Welcome to a world created by the one hundred and forty-seven 9th grade students of my five International Relations classes at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose.  This web site demonstrates the results of our final project, an experiment in online collaboration that combined what they learned about International Relations and technology.

While much of the Internet-related buzz in schools focuses on access to information, this project emphasizes the collaborative power of the web.  Helping students experience what it's like to work in new types of communities exposes them to a transformational aspect of the Net, one that they will use in their adult lives in ways we can't imagine.

In business, the Internet has radically changed the shape of organizations and the nature of work.  This is the world our students will graduate into, and it is our responsibily to help them explore and understand that world, not just theoretically, but by using new tools to solve real problems.  They are the true pioneers, and I see my role as giving them their horses and wagons, pointing the way to the trail, and getting out of their way so they can go disover and learn.

This site takes you through our project in some detail, showcases student work, reviews both my approach to technology in educaton and the tools we used, and finishes with a discussion of how to apply these ideas to any class.  Welcome and Enjoy!
